Reflection
an image seen in a mirror,
in whose likeness?
The mirror bestowed at birth
The one always being molded, manufactured, misshapen to fit a certain ideal,
will never conform to a frame it is not meant for
The image put out often does not align with the one within
Perceptions grow out of preconceived ideas
An unfortunate side effect of living in a world of prejudices
Often trying to win the unspoken popularity contest
But persist
Ambition always a hot commodity
What for?
What reward?
Validation falls short
Rise above!
The underdog always a fan favorite,
until the underestimation becomes a bitter reality
Three sides to every story
Hardly ever based in certainty
Having to align with one to escape ambiguity
Scared of the unknown,
instilled in the human condition
Always told to be “different,”
but only to the acceptable degree
To go further is to break the delicate social order
However,
every once in a while,
the divergent few will emerge
Those that quiet the shouts into the void
Take a breath… and…
Leap!
